Tom Sachs has a knack for generating high buzz around his innovations whether it be tied to art, apparel or footwear, especially when it comes to his collaborative projects with Nike (NYSE:NKE +2.70%) . This year, the New York-based creative is reconnecting with the sportswear giant to introduce a brand new silhouette: the NikeCraft “General Purpose Shoe.”

Sachs labels this new offering the “ordinary shoe for extraordinary people” as nothing about this sneaker is over the top. “I got involved with Nike in the beginning because we wanted to make a sculpture that everyone could wear. It’s a tool for everyday life; it’s democratic,” says Sachs. Its design can be compared to some of Nike’s most minimalistic models such as the Killshot and the Waffle One, but with touches of flair from the renowned artist that allow it to stand on its own. Its equipped with a three-piece molded cup sole, signature donning straps, microfiber collar and ultra-breathable knit and comes fitted with a simple off-white upper, blue accents atop the pull tabs and gum midsoles that come loaded with EVA foam cushioning.
